Alentejo is a scarcely populated region with
open horizons, where the quietness and silence of the endless
landscapes invite you to share its nature and socialize with
the people who live and work here.
You will ride alongside vast wheat-fields,
vineyards; cork and olive trees where intense greens and golden
are the main characteristic colours as well as villages with
their whitewashed houses and white marble quarries. The tour
will take you along the remarkable traces of ancient cultures:
dolmens and Menhirs (more than 10.000 years old!), cromlechs,
Roman and Arab vestiges mingling with the most recent signs
of Christianity such as medieval castles. You will also visit
a town of Evora, which is classified as World Heritage by
UNESCO, and some other beautiful villages. The people here
are very proud of their heritage and they preserve the ancient
buildings and the ancient practices. The region has a very
rich handicraft tradition – pottery, embroideries, hand-painted
furniture, wrought-iron works, etc.
This is a spectacular tour which takes you
to the most ancient vestiges of the Portugal history and heritage
as well as the natural beauties of the country.
