Welcome to Spain’s wine region at the very
heart of the country where our safari meanders along parts
of River Ebro, the longest river in Spain, flowing from its
source in the Cantabrian Mountains down to the distant Mediterranean.
Starting from Riano we set off on a journey of varied cycle
terrain not only characterised by magnificent vineyards but
also a landscape of gorgeous flora made up of alpines and
orchids etc, canyons with sculptured limestone and small rustic
village offering a unique culture and history to embrace.
Our tour takes us through the beautiful valley of Valderredible
and offers the chance to explore characteristic churches carved
into rocks before we visit the ‘fairytale village’ of Orbaneja
del Castillo with its waterfalls running through its center.
We cycle along quiet country roads and spend a night in the
spectacular Frias, a town built around its castle and with
fine views of the Ebro valley. The safari also includes some
splendid wine tasting at one of the renowned Bodegas as we
stay in Haro, the birthplace of Rioja.
Our final destination is Laguardia, where you can explore
the village and its historic walls dating back to the 13th
century, or cycle up to the ‘Balcony of La Rioja’, with its
incomparable views over the valley and across the neighbouring
provinces of Soria, Navarra and Burgos.
