In 1987 Stephen Roche became the first Irishman to not only wear the Maglia Rosa ( Pink Jersey ) of the Giro d'Italia but to then go on and win it. Now 27 years later the Giro has chosen its first "Irish Grande Partenza".
There are three stages being held both across Northern and Southern Ireland. This short break guided trip combines some riding each day along with watching this wonderful spectacle. From the team presentation in Belfast, to the "King of the Hills" line at Fews Foreest, before winding up at the finish in Merrion Square in Dublin.
We will keep apace with the professionals by taking our own carefully planned tour which intersects their route. You wil have the opportunity to cycle in some of the beautiful Antrim Glens, along the Antrim coastline, while still seeing various stages of the race during the day. On the final day we will take a cycle that will finish up in Fews Forest where you can see the professionals battle it out for the coveted King of the Hills jersey. While they continue on the bike towards Dublin we will hop into a coach to be ready in Merrion Square to see their final finish.
The tour will be accompanied by a back up van so there are opportunities to take a lift during the day should you need one.
